Goodman Named Colorado Sportscaster of the Year
Goodman is one of a few active sportscasters calling play-by-play for two professional teams. He is in his ninth season handling the Nuggets telecasts, and recently completed his first season with the Colorado Rockies. Between the two teams, Goodman annually logs 190 games (125 Rockies and 65 Nuggets).
"Drew is one of the keys to the tremendous success of Fox Sports Net over the past 15 years,” said Tim Griggs, Vice President/General Manager, Fox Sports Net Rocky Mountain. “He’s done everything we’ve ever asked him to do, from rodeos to NBA and MLB and he’s done them all extremely well. His play-by-play work delivers Rocky Mountain sports fans an honest and entertaining telecast. I’m pleased that Drew is receiving this kind of recognition."
In between his regular duties with the Rockies and Nuggets, Goodman worked several other events this past year including a NFL game on FOX in late December, the Rebif MS Tennis Classic featuring Martina Navratilova and Monica Seles and some college basketball.
Goodman, sports director for Fox Sports Net, joined the network in 1988 when the Denver-based regional sports network launched as Prime Sports Network. Since that time Goodman has been involved with several telecasts on the network. He is a regular correspondent for the network’s nightly news show, ROCKY MOUNTAIN SPORTS REPORT, which launched in July 2000 and prior to being named play-by-play announcer for Rockies telecasts on FSN, he was the pregame host for Rockies telecasts. Additionally, Goodman hosted pregame shows for Colorado Avalanche telecasts prior to taking on his new responsibilities with the Rockies telecasts.
Goodman has also hosted various radio talk shows for KOA, KKFN and KKZN The Zone, including a five-year run with the popular Denver Broncos postgame show on the team's radio network.
Goodman is a native of Pound Ridge, New York in Westchester Country. He received his bachelor’s degree in communications from Ithaca College in 1985.
Goodman shares the 2002 award with Larry Zimmer of KOA Radio. FOX Sports’ Joe Buck was named the National Sportscaster of the Year.
