Bobcats Announce 2005-06 Regular Season Schedule

The Bobcats will begin their second NBA season on Wednesday, November 2, at Chicago and will play their first game in the New Charlotte Arena on Saturday, November 5, against Boston.

The game against the Celtics kicks off a four-game homestand against Utah (November 7), defending NBA Champion San Antonio (November 9) and Dallas (November 11).

The Bobcats begin the season on the road in a matchup between the top two contenders for the 2005 NBA Rookie of the Year Award, winner Emeka Okafor and runner-up Ben Gordon, followed by a road contest on November 4 at Philadelphia. The third game of the season will feature the home opener against Boston.

Charlotte will host a six-game homestand from January 30 through February 10 – including contests against LeBron James and Cleveland (January 30), Marvin Williams and Atlanta (February 1), Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers (February 3) and Allen Iverson and Philadelphia (February 8). The team will also play six of eight games in the new arena from March 6 to March 21.

The first matchup of the season against a Southeast Division rival comes on November 26, when Antawn Jamison and the Washington Wizards visit Charlotte. Orlando comes to the Queen City on January 20 and March 21, and Atlanta travels north on February 1 and March 28. Miami and Shaquille O’Neal make two appearances in Charlotte on January 27 and March 6.

The longest road trip of the season is a seven-game swing after the All-Star break from February 21 to March 4. The Bobcats also have nine of 12 games on the road from November 12 to December 4, after the team’s initial homestand.

All Bobcats home games will begin at 7:30 p.m., with the exception of the Sunday, April 2, game against Cleveland, which begins at 6:00 p.m, and a 1:00 p.m. contest on Monday, January 16, against New Orleans on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
